Cellulite is a condition where underlying fat deposits appear under the skin giving it a lumpy dimpled appearance. It usually occurs after puberty and most noticeable around the buttocks and thigh regions.
Other names for it is orange peel syndrome or cottage cheese skin.
There are 3 grades of Cellulite:
Grade 1: There is no clinical symptom but a detailed examination will detect anatomical changes.
Grade 2: With the squeezing or the skin in affected areas the cellulite is visible.
Grade 3: Cellulite is visible to the naked eye with roughness on the skin together with grade 2 signs.
Although cellulite can affect both sexes it is more common in females mainly because they are more likely to have that particular type of fat and connective tissue.
